Dr. Andrew Ong is an Australian-trained Breast, Endocrine & General Surgeon. He has been a fully qualified consultant general surgeon for 8 years and has been providing surgical services to the Macarthur Region for the last 7 years. He is appointed at Campbelltown Public & Private hospitals, Liverpool Public Hospital BreastScreen, Liverpool Day Surgery and Strathfield Private Hospital. He is a member of General Surgeons Australia, Australian Endocrine Surgeons and Breast Surgeons ANZ. Dr. Ong is also a Conjoint Lecturer at Western Sydney University with responsibilities including teaching and examining medical students as well as being included on the panel of interviewers for medical school admissions. He was an assistant editor for the ANZ Journal of Surgery and  superintendent of surgery. He is the current secretary for the Medical Staff Council of Macarthur Health Services and supervisor for the Breast, Endocrine & General Surgical Unit at Campbelltown Public Hospital.

Dr. Ong has achieved many firsts for the Macarthur Region; he established on-site hookwire services at the public hospital, (with the help of 24 Fight Against Cancer) acquired one of the world’s most advance sentinel node probe for breast cancer for the public hospital, established intra-operative sentinel node testing, introduced laparoscopic ventral hernia repairs to the region and is currently involved in the establishment of an area-first Endocrine Surgery Outpatient Clinic at Campbelltown Hospital to offer public thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal patients quality healthcare.

Dr. Ong is one of the main breast cancer surgeons in the region, spearheading a high volume breast cancer team at the Macarthur Health Service. He is also the chief endocrine surgeon for Macarthur. He is a BARD hernia representative and conducts national studies in hernia repair outcomes to improve the quality of hernia surgery for his patients.

Dr. Ong consults at Campbelltown & Camden and strives to provide quality healthcare to all public and private patients in western Sydney.
